​Officially formed during the pandemic of 2020, IonIQ Solutions Inc. owes its inception to an impassioned conversation dating back years prior. As a group of experienced commissioning and start-up engineers and a combined 35+ years of experience as a team, we identified gaps in the industry we knew could be filled effectively and efficiently.

Growing frustrated with the increasing trend of large multi-disciplined engineering consultancies assigning engineers with little to no field experience and technical troubleshooting expertise to projects, we decided to work towards building an engineering company that emphasized a team of strong and experienced technical personnel putting our clients' best interests first.

Justin has over 20 years of technical and operational experience in the hydrometallurgical industry, specializing in critical metals, which include nickel, cobalt, copper, lithium, rare-earth, and precious metals. Building on his experience with several high-profile hydrometallurgical projects and organizations, he is skilled in process design, testwork development, project management, operation optimization, plant commissioning, and process debottlenecking. In addition, he specializes in sulphide metallurgy, pressure oxidative leach, solvent extraction, impurity control, and solid-liquid separation, which complement his extensive design and field engineering skillset.
DEREK CHOW

Eastern Americas and Europe-Africa
Mining Engineer turned Process Metallurgist, Derek has over 15 years of technical and operational experience throughout the entire production lifecycle of today's critical metals including nickel, cobalt, copper and lithium.
Over the years, Derek has added to his quiver a number of successful hydrometallurgical plant commissioning and startup projects complementing his extensive skill set in process development, test work development, project management, production management and operational optimization.
He has recently found himself as principal engineer in the battery recycling field with a focus on material handling, feed and impurity control, production management and process optimization, an exciting and novel space poised for growth.
Jonathan Gibson
Mining & Milling S.M.E., P. Eng
Jonathan Gibson has 20+ years of experience working in the mining sector, is a “mine-to-mill” expert and has worked on over 60 mining projects around the world in many different capacities.
His experience ranges from front-end studies to on-site start-up & commissioning in remote locations to mine closure and reclamation. He has been exposed to all aspects of operations including prospecting and staking claims, R&D, mine planning and design, engineering and project management and consulting services in mining and mineral processing operations.
His depth of experience gives him a unique perspective in delivering successful projects, while his experience from the boardroom to the plant floor allow him to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
